Volvo believes that the future of the car is electric. In the press conference held at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, the President and CEO of Volvo Cars, mister Stefan Jacoby stated that the future of Volvo will be based on electric cars. Volvo is so confident that this is the right decision that they also revealed that a new, all electric Volvo C30 DRIVe Electric will enter production in 2011. More than that mister Jacoby thinks Volvo will set a standard in the industry in terms of electric cars.
The Volvo C30 DRIVe Electric was already displayed at the Paris Motor Show and it seems that this Volvo model is already under pre-production tests in the USA, Europe and China.
In 2012 a Volvo plug-in hybrid will also be available and it will be powered by a combination of a diesel engine and an electric motor which will enable the car to drop the CO2 emissions to less than 50 grams/km.
