Production of the Peugeot 408 at the PSA Peugeot Citroen Palomar factory in the Buenos Aires area has begun. After being released for the first time in China in April, the Peugeot 408 now aims the high end sedan market segment in South America. The 408 benefits from the valuable input of various Peugeot research and development centers from France, China, Brazil, and Argentina.
The Latin American Peugeot 408 is already in the final stages of testing, meaning that 408 fleets are driven in real traffic to ensure the compliance of the car with the quality requirements before the final commercial launch. The new 408 will be driven for no less than one million kilometers before completing the tests. However, the first public display of the Latin American Peugeot 408 will be in October, at the Sao Paulo Motor Show, in Brazil.
Following this event, the 408 will be released in Brazil and Argentina and also in other 25 countries from Latin America. Taking into account the popularity of its predecessor, we presume that the 408 will confirm Peugeot’s expectations in terms of sales as well.
