Volvo V60 braking systems
Volvo has done a good job in imprinting the new V60 with a dynamic character. But even if the maneuverability of the car is at high standards, braking the car efficiently is another important feature that contributes to a car’s sportiness as well as its safety.
According to Volvo, V60 has a system that can predict soft braking situations and start applying the brakes before the driver does. Their Ready Alert Brakes system gently applies the brakes when such a situation is detected. When the driver presses the pedal, the braking is more efficient. This also saves time if, for example, you are forced to shift from accelerating to braking quickly.

Countryman, MINI
For a long time it seemed that MINI had a certain place in the BMW Group product range. Years ago it would have been hard to imagine an off road MINI. Even if the idea of a MINI with all wheel drive crossed our minds more than once, we have to be honest and confess that we never thought about a model like the new MINI Countryman popping up in the MINI model range. But it seems that BMW considered that the MINI brand has reached a certain amount of maturity and that is time for it to go on new paths.

We already had a look at the new R-Class 2010 generation and we agreed in our design review of the Mercedes R Class that things changed for the better for this new model. The review of the interior of the R Class completed this picture, and we concluded that if you want to be happy about your car and enjoy a lot of space and technology you might want the new R Class for yourself. We also presented the engines that power the new R Class, but we said almost nothing about the technological features of the new R Class. It is now time to make it up to you.

Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1750 Tbi is the most powerful version of the Giulietta model range. We already had a brief description of it in our Alfa Romeo Giulietta engines article. This model is also known as the Quadrifoglio Verde version due to the exclusive availability of this model with this trim. Quadrifoglio Verde means green cloverleaf and this is usually associated with the top performance models from a certain Alfa Romeo model range. The Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1750 Tbi is remarkable not only because it can reach 100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds, or because the engine has 235 HP but mainly because this performance levels are reached from a 1.75 litre engine packed with latest Alfa Romeo innovations. We are going to see which technologies are responsible for these results.

Alfa Romeo Giulietta has three petrol engines and two diesel engines available. All five engines are offered standard with a six speed manual gearbox of the latest generation. This transmission is part of a newly designed transverse three axle transmissions created for an improved gear change feeling and use also being smaller in size than usual transmissions which have two axles. The six speed gearbox fitted on Alfa Romeo Giulietta can resist to higher torque value and can transmit a peak torque of up to 350 Nm while reducing the fuel consumption and generating less noise. Some variants of the new Giulietta will be available with an automatic transmission featuring a dry dual clutch. In essence this solution is made up of two gearboxes mounted in a parallel configuration, each of these having its own clutch which ensures a continuous response in terms of torque transmission which means a much better comfort while driving, much quicker gear changes compared with a normal automatic gearbox and less fuel required to drive the car.

Smart fortwo electric drive is going to be available in the USA and Canada starting this autumn. The electric vehicle, now at it’s second generation has lots of advantages on it’s side. The first generation of the smart fortwo electric drive has been operational since 2007 on the streets of London. The first version had a sodium-nickel-chloride battery and an electric motor capable of a power output of 20 kW.
